removing airbox "muffler"?

The EVO intake is pretty pricey considering the main advantage is sound, but I do like the sound of a mean intake.

The fabspeed kit is much cheaper, but its still pretty expensive for a kit that mainly helps you remove stuff. I don't think their red silicone elbow will increase that much more flow, but it seems taking out the airbox "muffler" would help to give the car a bit more growl. Anyway to make a DIY de-muffler kit? Anyone try this?

I felt the same way as you. Here's a link to how I went about removing the baffle.

Do some searches on the "orange plug (or cap) mod". There is some loss of low end torque. The physics are beyond my ability to explain.

Orange Cap is the best bang for the buck. When I had it I was very pleased with the results.

If you want sound, add mufflers, the airboxes tend to create a intake drone that you may not like. I had it on mine for a year, finally got sick of it.

Fabspeed Airbox actually does make power. It's not worth it when you actually see what it is but it is worth it when you see the HP gain. As stupid and unreal as it sounds it actually produces about 5hp. This info was not on a roller dyno either, it was produced on a dynapak(bolts to the hubs) real deal actually accurate dyno.
