I am not trying to throw them all under the bus, and my experience is mostly in the southwest and mostly phx, and I agree that there are some very nice people in the biz, but I have never seen the level of bull**** I witnessed inside of the "sales tower" anywhere else.

And I do think low 30's is realistic (retail), but I still can't see them giving that car an acv of 31k.

To the OP do you know what car he traded it in on? Maybe they had a huge spread in that.

My 2 cents, something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Could this price start a trend and see the 996 start to increase in value rather than continue to price bomb? At some point these cars will be considered classics (maybe now maybe 20yrs) and rocket in value like the 993 and the 964 before that. I think if you are prepared to buy it at 31k then buy it, if you believe you are being ripped off then forget and keep shopping

Well guys went to the used car manager yesterday to ask about it. They sent it to the auction on friday. They got $30k for it, which is what they bought it for i guess.

Come on! Now we know they lied to him about what they paid for initially and now you believe them when they sold it for 30k! I think not. If they sold it via Mannheim we will know soon enough.

Not to hijack the thread but is there a website that keeps track of 996 current values? I was wondering what the going rate is for all models of 996's.

Go to an open market site, and find the successful, closed sales. Not the still-open ones....

This one will give you one data point, in 3hrs from right now:
