Hey everyone,


I ordered a pair of clear side marker lamps and an interior LED upgrade kit last night. The person I bought the LED kit from also has LED upgrades for the "city" light inside the headlight and it got me to thinking. Has anyone thought about or tried turning that light into a DRL? I'm not sure if it's even possible, but it would be pretty sweet without hanging something inside the air inlets on the bumper. Thoughts?

The city lights will not be bright enough for a true DRL.

 

You could do this and have proper lighting output. Alpine is right the stock city bulbs are tiny and nothing in that spot will be significant.

1. Remove the High Beam Bulb (it is mounted low on the 2002+ units)
2. Pop in one of these (Switchback LED bulb)

3. Wire up a switched ignition wire to it and your turn signal wire and this could even replace your stock turn signal bulb.

Or you can get a non switchback LED bulb and use it solely for DRL in the high beam housing.

 

The "Canadian" version of the 996 TT has the DRL in the Fog light. It's probably a PIWIS code to turn that feature on but it's not LED of course...
