Cost to paint calipers from Gold Line brakes
Cost to paint calipers from Gold Line brakes
I just got an e-mail back from Gold Line Brakes. They want $210.00 PER CALIPER on an exchange program. Here's the e.mail:
Hi John,
The calipers you have are ones we do on a regular basis. Our picture page
shows a completed set of the calipers done in red, yours will look the
same as these when done. This process of going from black to red is a very
popular thing my customers are doing.
Your calipers will be cleaned down to bare alloy, coated with the Red
Polymer Caliper Coat, internally rebuilt with new hydraulics and assembled
ready to bolt on the car.
Cost per caliper is $218.32 which includes all the above. Time here is
about three days.
Thanks
John

Now, I'm all for doing things the right way, but $900 to change my caliper color??!!
CoryNJ, yours look awesome!! But 15 days?? Did you disassemble and rebuild?
Karlooz, yours look awesome too. What was your process beyond what you explained for the stencil?
Most importantly, how are all of your calipe colors holding up after hard braking, high heating, flogging?
Sorry I still have to post a new thread every time I reply to this board - still no e-mail back since I joined up!!

that's a fair price if they're replacing all the seals, etc...
yeah, i know it's expensive. what isn't expensive on these cars. whatever you do, DO NOT use the brush on caliper paint on the porsche calipers. they are too smooth and it looks like ****.
one of our forum members, "sandoval" does caliper painting. he uses a powdercoating process. essentially he tapes off the seals and parts that don't get painted and off to the powercoater they go. best part is, that he has a core set so he sends you calipers already painted before you mail yours back so they can be swapped at the same time. the only downside in this process is that you don't know hold old the calipers/seals are in the set you're getting. he's a pretty good guy though and i'm sure he checks it all before sending them off.
the decals he uses for the lettering have been on there for over a year with no problems ( knock on wood).
the cost was about $500.
