I still can’t reply to threads, sorry for the multitude of new threads regarding the same topic..
Ignoring the factory connections, I measured the tail pipe from the end of the boomerang flange just south of the cat, to the point where the exhaust tip bend would start, and I got 10 inches. If we removed the stock mufflers and cut the tail pipe right at the end of the boomerang bracket, leaving enough room for a connection to a glass pack (about an inch) then modify the end of the tip (turbo or GT2 tip will fit the notch in the rear valance on an 02 996 - it’s the same size on a turbo as it is on a C2 – I measured one today) to accept the other end of the glass pack. The 8 inch glass packs you said you found would fit, if we stacked one on top of the other provided they are not too fat. I think that would give us the best of both worlds. The only drawback is that the stock muffler system would be a ***** to put back on if you ever wanted to. Those glass packs can’t be more than $50.00 each. $275 for the tips, and another $25 in material. What do you think? Where did you see those stubby glass packs?

Re: Hey Karlooz…
hmmm... just might work. it hought it was less than that. you also have to take into account the flange dimension/length then add the bend of the tail pipe. it still might work. will take more measurements and do more internet research.

already found. cargraphic export (loud) exhaust
my main idea is that i want a muffler that i can easily remove the muffler tips and swap them for bypass pipes for the track.
