'99 head unit wiring question

'99 head unit wiring question
'99 C2 with amp and CD changer in the trunk.
I'm trying to figure out how to wire up a new Pioneer DEH-X8700BS to replace the OEM head unit.
The harness for the Pioneer has 8 speaker wires, but the harness for the OEM unit only has 4.
The Pioneers 8 wire are the usual 4 positive and 4 negative for 4 speakers. Are the 4 wire from the OEM unit line in/out for the amp? If so, how can I reconcile that?
Most of the threads I've seen reference blue, green, yellow, black, and brown harnesses. I don't have the brown one.
