Question Clutch Slippage.....?

How would i know if my clutch is slipping? Is there practical test one can do? After not driving my '02 911 C2 for a while (long trip), i just noticed when i let the clutch out in first gear, it feels weird, like a small vibration before the car rolls on.

Any feed back is apreciated! I don't want to take it to the dealer without being sure cause i know what the mechanic will say "you need a new clutch!". They love any excuse for that service.

Thanks
Ed

Ed-
My car does the same thing...makes you feel like you can't drive but it's just the way the car is out of first.

Good luck!

Go to a higher gear...4th, 5th or 6th at reasonably low RPMs such as 1.5k-3k and punch it. If the revs jump without your car moving or there seems to be alot of revving and not much going on, it's slipping. That's what happened on mine. As it went on it worked into the lower gears and higher RPMs. Your problem just sounds like something needs to be adjusted in the pedal or possibly throw-out-bearing? I don't know.

Yep, the high gear / floor it technique is the definitive test. When I do it, though, I aim to be around 4k rpm when I punch it, as that's where the engine makes the most torque, and therefore where a failing clutch will show.

You'll hit the gas, the revs will surge, the car won't, then the car will gain speed until it matches the engine rpm. At this point, you may as well drive it to the dealer, slip yourself a couple of roofies, and wake up a day later with a sore *** and a new clutch.
