From the depths of Muppet Labs: Exhaust Questions

Hey, when you have these guys working for you you come up with some whacky ideas.

Ok, I have several sets of old C2 exhausts. And I was going to experiment with them. I have a gutted exhaust on my C2 now. I had this from a long time ago. I opened up the exhaust and esentially removed everything from the inside and had it welded back together. It sounds good. But still rather quiet.

I had the by-pass pipes before and it was way to loud for normal use (clients always knew when I was in the PCar).

I was thinking of opening up another set and essentialy putting in a U pipe from inlet to outlet with a bunch of holes in it. In theroy it should be quieter than bypasses and lounder than stock. See diagram below (pardon the stinky graphics)

Anyone ever do this? Beaker says it will be just fine but you never know with that guy.

Next, you could wrap the part with the holes in fiberglass to help dampen resonant frequencies! You could call it a "glasspack"! (Sounds kind of catchy) You could be on to something here!!

Sorry for the sarcasm, I'm in a weird mood.

Tim,
I experimented with my stock cans and wasn't happy with the results. We removed two of the three stes of baffles and welded them back together. The sound was tinny and too quiet.
I just installed GHL regulars and for my cab the sound is perfect (both in volume and pitch).

Cheers,
Stan
