Paint vs. Powder Coat?????

I just got my new (to me) set of 19" rims....I wanna do them in black so I wanna paint or powder coat...pros and cons on both are welcomed....Plus what types of prices for both.....i have a quote from a great paint shop at $100 a wheel, which seems very reasonable....I know they will do a great job. Also there is curb rash on 2 wheels, so who fixes them?

Powdercoat- the wheels will have to be baked for the powder to cure so the strength of the wheels might be compromised, but the finish will be much stronger then paint.

The question is... If they have been repaired for curb rash(i.e. filler) what happens when they are baked for powder coating.

If it is a multipiece wheel then you can just take it apart, powdercoat the spokes, and put it back together. This will be the best method!

What brand wheels are they? Fixing a polished lip is very difficult and it might be better for you to buy a new lip.

Innovative Powdercoating in Fort Lauderdale will do them for $50.00 a wheel.
You need to break th wheels down, they will sand off minor curb rash if your wheels are alum. The heat required to cure powdercoating is only 350 degrees F - not enough compromise metal strength. Much better than paint.

They are 1 piece wheels. 997 Sport design 19's...$50 a wheel is good BUT it would cost almost $200 for shipping. I dropped them off for paint today. If its good enough for Porsche, then it should be good enough for me.

I have had most of my wheels powdercoated. I though with forged wheels, the baking process wouldnt compromise any strength??? I have had great luck with my finishes, but I cannot comment on painted surfaces other than they might chip easier.
