Cat Bypass pipes
INSTALLED!! Jury is out on the sound though. I don't mind the volume, it's actually right about what I expected. What I didn't expect was the raspiness. I'm going to take a drive in a bit. Might just need to get used to it.
Dog- yes, the Supersprints.
Drove the car to work today. In traffic and at RPM's below 4-5k the sound is very livable, especially with the windows up. The raspiness is only at higher RPM's and when blipping the trottle. If anything, it may just help me to behave some. ...naaaaaa LOL
One thing worth mentioning-- the supersprints move the second O2 sensor further down the pipe (almost at the end) and require you to hook them up so that the left sensor is plugged into the right side bypass and vice versa. I assume they moved it down the pipe to help with the CEL problem some were having with cat bypass pipes, but the swapped O2 sensor is important to know for anyone reading fualt codes.

Anyone have stock mufflers with cat bypasses? I wonder if it'll tone down the raspiness some. Might be a good weekend project just to see how it sounds.
Otherwise I'm loving 'em. I don't notice any difference in sound levels going down the hwy windows up. Even in traffic a gentle foot and short shifts keep the sound in check. When called upon it's pure....

take out your air box and unplug the oxygen sensors on both sides. remove them once the cats are off the car. To remove the cats, lossen all bolts and slide the cuplings as far onto the mufflers as possible. Pull the manifold side clear then slide the out of the muffler cupling. You'll have to rotate the cats to get the O2 sensors to clear while removing. Oh, don't forget to remove the middle braket. Completely remove the clamps or make sure they are clear of the bracket. It has a lip at the end and will keep you from removing the cat. I did not reuse the middle bracket. It's very straight forward.
HA!!! I just passed emissions!!! I cleared the CEL I had --been having an intermitten O2 sensor not heating (preheating?) according to the code- since b4 the cat bypass. Went for a morning drive to nice country road to make sure all the triggers had registered- no CEL's, then went to get my inspection. They only plug into the ODB2 port, no tail pipe sniff on 96 and newer cars. Passed!! I was told by a friend to just be sure the car was hot from a good run b4 going, that the Cats do most their work when cold. Guess he was right! BtW- I'm loving the sound now. Sounds friggin awesome downshifting into a turn, then getting back on it. Gramps, Grammy, and the cows didn't seam to happy though!
