Specific Stereo Q's on my 99 996....
Gang:
Been readin a lot of threads on the subject but none answer these questions. Any help would be great.
Situation: 99 C2 with the stock head unit with in-dash CD.
Want to do: I have 2 Blaubunkt(sp) head units with integrated CD's. I want to put one of them in the car. I also need to replace the door speakers as they sound blown.
What I was told: I would have to bypass the internal AMP to use a new head unit. New wire to all the speakers etc. The head unit would need to be hardwired. I was told there was no adaptor kit for the Porsche.
Question: Can't I just replace the headunit and the speakers without having to re-wire the whole darn thing?
Thanks

it all depend son the sytem i am not very knowledgeable with the stock system with the porsche..
i am not sure if the stock headunit uses an amp to power the speakers if it does, you will need to rewire the speakers to runn off your blaupunkt headunit. as for hard wiring.. it is a fairly normal thing that stereo shps do,, usually it is justa few wires, one is for power, one is for ground, another is for the antennae, one is for illumination (if u want to dim the headunit lights on or off with the stock dash dimme) but shops usually do not connect this anymore. and an accesory line. so that you can trun on your radio without turning on the motor of your car... and four speaker wires from the headunit to the four speakers you want to use..
correct me if i am wrong... ( i used to install speakers and soundsytem to my cars) (but i havent done it for a while now, so my mind might be rusty)
hope this helps..
