I think the hardest part so far was making the air vents work with the '99 ducts.... It works great now, but I had to cut down (depth) the new center air vent, and then reshape the existing duct to be skinnier (due to cupholder)..

thanks Kahlid... it really does.. I took the car our for a drive yesterday and it feels better in the car... well it feels better cause I like the look of it so much better

When I talked to Jeff at Sunset he said he has never had anyone update the early 996's with the later model center dash. It is not cheap to do, but I am so much happier with it, and the cupholders. Personally the main reason to do it was for the late model cup holders. I just did not like the cupholders that replace the heater controls (of course you moev them lower). They do not look good in my own opinion when compared to the newer style.

thanks everyone>.. I found the cupholder itself on ebay, then I got all of the other pieces at Sunset Porsche in Portland. Jeff was more than great there!

total price of projet is about $400 or so. It is spendy, but I think that update it gives the interior of the earlier cars is worth it!

why did you get rid of your airbag? you may regret that at some point.

I can get some more pix of the extensions here next week. I am pulling them off and getting some things repainted (bumper, flares, skirts, cage, center console etc)..

as far as the airbag goes....ah screw it
