sorry i meant pogo...its the kinda bouncing it does when cornering and encounters bumps....this makes the car lift up while cornering and lose grip on the front wheels. Not a good thing when going around high speed sweepers and feeling the front of the car bounce up and down....I drove my Boxster like this for 2 years and while it was annoying it never prevented me from going fast...lol...Having PSS9's now on the Carrera, the car is PLANTED no matter what, even if the road isnt perfect the suspension compensates without upsetting the handling of the car. if you don't push the car too much, you may bever realize the difference, but if you ever do...its a BIG difference.

I understand..I had this with the original setup....even on long 405 curves...the one that goes under the 605...the car started bounching like crazy..this is why is went for the H&R springs...but you are right I still feel it ( a lot less, and within limits)...didn't understand this, because my 928s and BMW's never really did it this as much and I drove the hell out of them on the German autobahn.

So if I put sport shocks in...this would completely go away...or will it always be there...just less?

I know the 605/405 interchange well...I drive it every night...I have done it at about 120 easy with no issues....not sure if it would completely go away with new shocks, but I think so....others who have done this will chime in I am sure....This is what the Porsche x73/x74 systems are....springs with matched shocks.

I guess I am okay, did it the other day with about the same speed (about 130 I believe) and felt the bounching effect.....but controllable...before I didn't dare to go faster than 100/110 and the bounch was like an 70's american sedan....the ones that loses their hubcabs in the movies when cornering!

When I am ready to start modding again..... (my P looks a lot like yours...just put sports exhaust, ordered MKII sidde skirts...which will be my last mod..besides the spacer I have on order).....I might go for the shocks..and 19" wheels...but then again..maybe a newer P!! and a Turbo would be nice...can even take a stick since I got my wife her new favorite car the X5 (go figure!)

nicolas, you should PM kilrgt... He has the H&R springs and bilstein shocks combo. He'd be a good person to contact to get a first hand view

Now that my car is in the shop getting a new alternator (grrr!), I've revisited the conversation about installing PSS9's. The shop owner is asking me what price he needs to beat. Ive told him that you guys (here and on Rennlist) are only paying around $500 for the install and he wants twice as much. He is asking if you guys got corner-balancing with that install. He says that Porsche standard procedure calls for corner-balancing when you install coilovers. These guys maintain race cars so I would not presume to doubt him, but what do you think? Did you get corner-balancing for that $500 install price? How many alignments did you get? I know that some shops will give you two alignments as part of the package.

Hope to hear back from you right away since I need to make a decision today.

Thanks!

I think the issue here is hourly labor rates.. dealer and tuners are pretty much, over $120+/hour... Some shops only charges $70-90/hour..
So if it;s a 5-6 hrs job, there goes the difference...

In this case their hourly rate is only $87.50... but he originally said that it would take 12 hours to do the install! So that adds up to about $1000. He said the corner-balancing part can take 2.5 hours. That's why I'm mystified at the major price difference between what he is quoting and what a lot of people online have reported paying for the install.

The $500 quote I used was from a board sponsor, it included corner balancing and TWO alignments....on initially and one in about 4 weeks after it settles. The 2nd alignment is a chance to adjust ride height as well....No way it takes 12 hours....I saw my install...4 hours max if they know what they are doing. I also got a quote for $350 with one alignment.....Coilover installs are actually EASIER than just springs....they go in as one unit....

I dont know what these Atlanta shops are smoking. I've now checked two different shops here with great reputations in the local PCA crowd including building current nationally run race cars and both are quoting around $2250 for the hardware and I got one of them to come down to $675 on the install including one alignment and corner balancing.

I've been doing some looking around here in the Bay Area, CA and that is a pretty good price your getting. I am getting 700-900 dollars and another 100-200 for the alignment on the install and 2300-2700 for the hardware. I can get them online from a place in LA, Bilstein4less.com for $1875. The problem is no one, yet, will install parts I buy from outside there shops. I am all for making a profit but heck they could buy them online and still make 25% profit at $2300 and I know they are getting a better brake then 1875....
