sad rs america story (cross post)

I just picked up my car at the dealer from service today..

whiel i was tlaking to the SA, an elderly man comes up and talks to him... the man was getting his car serviced ad the SA told him that the special ordered parts may take about 1 or 2 months to come in...

i then found out that the elderly gentleman, owns a white pristine rs america... with only 3100 miles on an 11 year old beauty... the car was in storage and from what the SA told rats got into the car and made a dinner of thevehicle... it's gonna cost the elderly man 28,000.00 to fix it ... yes that is correct 28,000.00 !!! but from what i heard teh insurance will cover it... im glad for the elderly man...

the harness alone will cost about 7,000.00 since it will be custom built by porsche for the specific vin number of the car..

also.. two of his other cars were also eaten by rats, an mr2 and a 94 sl500 too... (good thing is that only the head liner was eaten about 1,800 in damage.)

i remember tha tthere was a fellow 6speeder that had theire headliner eaten by rats too. (the SA told me rats love head liners)

this is not the exact pic. of the car just found this image in the net..

TCM is infamous around these parts
Yes, the rodents love the wiring and fabrics inside the cars. That is why you should always place some mothballs in socks around the vehicle (rodents hate the smell). Also, make sure to cover all engine openings to keep them from making a nest inside the engine. I know in Massachusetts, damage from rodents to your car while in storage can be covered under your home owners policy. Not sure exactly why, but it is.

If you are going to paint the hubs with the BBQ grill paint, should you get down to this shiny surface first? Do you need to apply primer then to this?
