'00 or '01 C4
'00 or '01 C4
Hi, I am new to the forum (as well as Porsche), and today, I came across the following two 996s:-
1. ‘01 C4 with GT3 kit and wheels, 6000km, silver with black interior
2. ‘00 C4 20,000km, black with gray interior (costs US$7k less)
The ‘01 C4 is extremely new and well looked after, the condition of the ’00 is also quite good. I test drive only the ‘01 C4 and find that I can live with one of these as a daily car (currently ‘01 E55 AMG), and immediately fell in love with it.
Is there any difference between the ’00 and ’01 C4? Which one should I go for?
I have not considered the C2 yet. Does the AWD in the C4 make a big difference?
Would be grateful for any valuable advice.

I say go for the 01 as you will have more warrnaty time left on it...The mileage is better too (its practically new!!). Lastly, there are no major differences between 00 and 01...Major changes happened in 02 including TT headlusghts, 3.6L engine and glovebox inside
Ditto...'01
The AWD does make a difference, but it really depends on what you're using the car for. Daily driver it excellent, since its std with PSM, and is great in bad weather. To give you an idea, I have snow tires on mine, and have had no problems driving in 4"s of snow in VT.

The only thing I would suggest is to check on the cars is the " in-service date". The in-service date is when the warranty takes effect. Porsche offers a 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty. If the in-service dates are close between the '00 & '01 then maybe the '00 is a better deal. Also, if you'e buying from a Porsche dealer buy a certified car. It comes with an additional 2 years from in-service date or 100,000 miles warranty. It's well worth it!!
