Its just a factory style hood:

Hi Jaded,

please let me know how you got around 2 fixing your hood, because I got a getty design hood thru TRG and after waiting about 3 months or so to get one, it didn't fit right and was raised about half a CM on the left. I'm seriously considering just using it as a paintball practice target or making the worlds coolest sled out of it.

Sure, Ill let you know how it goes and ask my body guy. Right now Its like 99% perfect. Its definately less than a cm raised on the passenger side. I think i can do something with the mounts and the fender. It looks like the weather stripping is whats keeping it from going flush.

Deadeye, your car is starting to reconvince me to keep the hood carbon and not paint it.

It should be a crime to paint a CF hood.

DeAd-EyE,
How about a picture of that hood!

Thats funny, I am going to try and post a pic tonight. Some seems to run off with my Digital SLR from my buddies house. I left it there while working on our scion project for SEMA. Sucks, so now i need to find a camera to take some pictures with.

there is an OEM solution,

I just got the OEM 996 GT3 RS Hood, it is primed for painting, with clear coated CF underneath.

only downside is that it costs 4000$...

not if it starts turning yellow . be sure that the maker of the hood uses UV blocking resins/clearcoat or it will discolor and make your "bling" CF hood into a cheap-looking eyesore. even porsche oem carbon parts discolor. i've seen CF steering wheels and trim parts turn yellow.

THANKS karlooz,

I'll make sure of that if I pull the trigger.

My CF steering wheel has been great.
It's my 2nd one.
The original factory wheel had 2 of the 3 carbon pieces loosen and they would shift in my hands when i took a turn.
Dealer replaced it at 30,000 miles.

Indeed. I had mine recoated when i got it tho to clear out the imperfections, and my car is always parked in a garage when not in use so outside time is minimal, cept when driving, tracking or at a car show.
