'02 Rms
Posted last week inquiring about protection for the C4S "chin guard". Several people mentioned a metal plate made in California called a Boomerang. It seemed that the metal would take the brunt of steep driveway scrapes instead of the black plastic spoiler, so I ordered one. When I took it to the Dealer to have it put on, it turned out that it's meant to protect the metal area behind the spoiler. I didn't want the service visit to be a total waste of time so I had a new spoiler installed. While doing this they discovered a RMS leak. How common is this on an '02 with 10K? Is it the kind of repair that stays fixed? This is my 1st Porsche and although I had heard of this happening on 1999 and a few 2000 models, was not aware of it on more recent ones. The car has been babied, so I felt like I'd been hit by a boomerang
Too common. Lots of RMS leaks. My Boxster is going in next week for that repair. Dealer said that they have repaired dozens of 996's and Boxsters. Several with complete engine replacement.
