How many 996's have rear wipers

Just wondering ive never really seen one with a rear wiper and the one im looking at now has one on it. If you had one did you delete it? Or is it worth keeping on the car? Asthetically its not that good looking.....

Thanks for your help in advance.

Maybe not a good-looking item, but really would be great to have.

have one. use it when it really rains hard. but considering the # of folks who keep these parked in their garages, wouldn't be too useful for them.

also, kinda surprised that it doesn't have a delay/intermittent feature.. It is only 2006.

I keep a coat if Rejex on the rear glass, which helps, but the angle of the glass is such that I really wish there was a wiper to sluice it away, especially when I am backing up.

I drive my car in all weather conditions except for snow. The rear wiper comes in handy when you're driving in rain. It's unobtrusive and functional.

I have a 997 with the wiper and it's wonderful. I first wanted one when I had a 993 and when it rained, I couldn't see anything out of my rear mirrors at night because of the headlights reflecting off the droplets on the rear window. It's a great and unobtrusive function.

Despair not...if you RainX your windows every 3-4 months, you'll find you rarely need wipers (neither front nor rear); save for a tropical depression monsoon rainstorm in which you probably won't want to drive your baby anyway. RainX also makes an anti-fog for interior glass. Apply as directed and us a microfibre shop towel afterwards to remove any streaks or fuzzy patches you may miss.

The wiper was not really that bad looking. All my previous Porsches have it including current TT. Use it all the time.

Have one on my C2. Wondeful when backing with a load of water on the back. Don't find much use for it at speed, even in the rain, since I'm more concerned about what is in front than behind.

It depends on whether you live in an area that rains alot and if you drive it in the rain. In Southern California probably not worth much, in fact I can't even remember how to turn the damn thing on while sitting here typing.

Too many! :-)
In my opinion it looks awful on a 911, and quite frankly, I don´t see the need for it. The window clears itself anyway at anything above walking pace.

Ps. I drive year around in Scandinavia (rain, ice and snow - you name it...)

Pps. Ray - I love that yellow TT! (and I´m normally not a fan of yellow. Or turbos...)

Under heavy rain conditions they are great to have. Its realy not that heavy... I would rather have it because if someone didn't have it and want to put it in, electrically its a big job. But if someone wants to remove it, it takes 15 minutes.
