2 part question about 1999-2000 headlights

my headlights are litronic and they are starting to show their age for sitting out in the florida sun for so long each day. They are starting to haze and have already started yellowing. I finally have a house with a garage so I can look for permanent fixes. I don't want to have to pay for two new litronic headlights. So my questions are:

1) can i just get a non-litronic headlight pair since they are cheaper and just move the litronic guts over to the good shells?

2) did porsche make the non-litronic lights without the orange indicator?

in the meantime i will try to clean them and tint them to keep a smooth surface. I am not interested in the headlight trim covers at all. Thanks in advance for any information that could help guys!

If anyone has the non litronic headlights, please post pictures of the rear so i can see how the guts attach.

1) You don't have to replace the headlights for most hazing. Try a plastic polish first.

2) If you're talking about the internal amber reflector in the 2000-2001 headlights, you can remove it from the inside and leave the lenses clear.

I have some polish that i'll try first. I just dont like when I turn the lights on you can see where the beam hits the plastic. Hopefully those blemishes are not on the inside of the light and polish will take it off.

thanks for the amber tip too.

Use 3m or Meguire plastic polish. Griot garage carrries one too. You should get good results. A good detailer can do this too.

Do a search for "Amberectomy" for the procedure. It basically involves burning the orange filter out with a soldiering iron. Takes about an hour for both.
