Anyone know how to remove the instrument cluster on an 03 996

Anyone know how to remove the instrument cluster on an 03 996

I'm getting a painted instrument surround and need to remove the cluster to put it in.

First make sure you have a set of tox screw drivers for the easest results.

The little circle thing on the side (left) needs to be popped off, on the right side the hazard switch needs to come out. The left side is a bit hard to see so a small light will help locate the screw you need to see. Once these mounting screws are removed you can then start working on the project. The lid will actualy pop UPWARDS, you got to use some force. Once you get that up it's best to put a towel on the top of the steering column to protect things. lay it down on there and start removing the emergency button switch & backing. You can figure that one out pretty easy (clip and slide). On the back of the cluster there are three slide switches. I think only three have sliding lock down tabs (colored in white) but they tabs are slide over the top and then can be removed. Dont' worry they are color coded in green, blue and orange so you can mix them up.

Once you have the pod open you are home-free. . . Taking off the gages and plastic trip is just too easy to figure out from there. . .
