aracerx is infamous around these parts
cup suspension 996

as said , they cups use the oem arms (upper) the lower are of split type with shimming for camber; as well the diagonal arms are oem also. GT3RS and RSR version use monoball installed arms. in cup "classes" and sanctioned events you must use these oem arms. As a "specialist" in rules "bending" I'm keenly interested in "cutting edge" parts when it comes to Porsche. Mark

so whats the verdict? Are will aftermarket control arms potentially cause more damage than the OEM ones?

I heard that these things will become noisy after a year or so. Does anyone have some serious miles on these upper control arms to see how quiet they are? These are used to achieve MORE positive camber in lowered cars, eliminating inside tire wear. I am installing some ERP arms om my Turbo for this reason only, otherwise, I would leave the stock pieces on.

I recently talked to one of the most respected Porsche suspension guys (use be on Alex Job racing team nad still does alot of setup work all over the country) in the country (has a shop near Seattle) and he told me I would not have an issue with the control arms doing more damage than the factory units. The style that I bought he doesn't even sell so it's not as if he is trying to sell me something. They do create noise after a while, so you do need to maintain them... and yes the do solve the problem of inside tire wear and makes the rear-end more responsive

My car is going there in the next 2 weeks for suspension tuning! i can't wait to get it back....

Lightbulb

These "Hiem" style joints will begin to make clunking noises after they wear, i have eaperiance with them in off road applications, unless the rod end has a race that can be tighted to take up slack as the joint wears, noise will be inevitable. As far as damage in an impact...well this is a suspension component that is ment to be regid, so i have a hard time seeing it as a primary component to absorb force, however i also know from my off road experiance, that when you strengthen one component, you simply move the weak spot to another compontent, and in the case of a severe impact that weak spot may very well be your chassis in this case.....because something has to give...

Hi Dan. Do you guarantee that these control arms will not make noise in "street" applications. And how long would the guarantee be for (period of time)? Are they teflon inserted? If you stand behind them, I will order a set

Also Dan, I heard that there are optional rubber boots for the arm ends, protecting them from water dirt etc. Have you heard of this?

Sure i understand that the conditions may differ, but the simple fact is that moving parts wear, even if it's just being cycled within it's normal range of motion, and unless they are constructed to be tightened to take up slack they will make noise. Again this process may be accelerated under certain conditions but the end result is the same.
Dan I'm not bashing anyone’s products, I’m simply pointing out the inevitable....and given the seasonal use of most of our cars, noise may not even be a problem for the duration that we own our cars....that’s the reason most bushings/bearings are not guaranteed, and simply are a replaceable item, i would be very impressed/surprised if a company guaranteed against noise from such an item.

iF YOU LOOK AT THE photos you will see where they mount and it is not on the body of the car, but the subframe. That part will break before it damages the frame of the car (that is what I was informed about).

There was a talk, but I will not be moving AP product. I was mislead to the relationship of Vivid and AP. One in the same. Disappointing to say the least. I do not like to be lied to.
