Post CA owners, Experience with Warranty Direct?

Hi, I'm new here! Hopefully in a week or two I will do my formal introduction with pictures.

I am about to pull the trigger on a 2002 C2 coupe with 26,000 miles. The car is super clean and I am having a PPI done tomorrow.

Bottom line is, the car is out of warranty and I don't want my new Porsche experience to be tarnished by excessive repair costs. So I am considering a warranty through Warranty Direct.

The car is bein sold through Private Party and so CPO is not an option. As of last week Warranty Direct offered up to 4 years or 100,000miles (total miles) of bumper to bumper service for the 2002. (not '01's sorry guys).

Warranty Direct (www.warrantydirect.com) is the ONLY warranty company licensed to independantly sell warranties in the state of California. They are supposed to be top notch, FULL coverage, and reimburse directly to the shop (independant or dealer), with a fast credit card payment.

Is this something I should seriously consider? the warranty is about $4,500 or roughly 10% of what I'm spending on the car.

My worries are about all the stories I hear of engine replacements, etc.

What are peoples thoughts?

Thanks,
AA

i bought the warranty from warranty direct ealier this year, 4 years 50k miles "bumper to bumper" warranty, 0 deductable for 2500. 2 months after i bought the warranty i had coolant tank and engine case leaks. The total repair cost was ~700 and Warranty direct had it covered with no questions asked. IMO some ppl said it's not worth the money to buy an extended warranty but i think it's worth every penny. At least you can truely enjoy driving the car the way it meant to be driven with no worry. And that my friend, is priceless. BTW It depends on how many miles u drive per year. when i bought the warranty my car had 24k. since i put ~6k miles/year, it kinda make sense to buy a 50k miles warranty instead of a 100k miles warranty cuz after 4 years my car will have ~48k miles. welcome to 6speedonline and enjoy ur car in good health.

I tried to go with them because I researched a bit when I was buying my car and they were the best ones to go with... unfortunately, they do not cover pre-2002 911s.

Based on posts from other boards, people seem to be really happy with them. Personally, I would skip the warranty on an 02. Things were fairly sorted out by the second-gen 996. Even if you have the RMS problem, it only runs $1,500 to get it fixed with the new parts.

I bought their 4yr/75k mile warranty for my 02' C4S. They were very pleasant to deal with- solid company!
It's a peace of mind that makes ownership of the car much more enjoyable. Do it, and you'll see.
