I don't think you have to or should wait. When I had my front bumper replaced I had the scotchcal applied before the car left the body shop. The body shop strongly recommended not waiting as a matter of fact, when I asked.

Not a problem whatsover, and if you wait unless you're not driving the car, you can end up with stone chips which kinda defeats the purpose.

Wow, that is odd. I was told by my bodyshop and also by the Xpel Installers to wait at least 30days. Also, several local dealers also suggested waiting. None are associated to each other and all gave the same reason. The paint needs to completly cure to the car. If you put the clear bra on too soon, it could remove the paint if/when you remove the clear bra.

I suppose there is no "right" answer. For me it was better to be safe than sorry and while I was waiting the 30 days I drove the car less and when I did drive it I just tried to be more careful about whom I followed.

I plan on doing the mbumper, mirrors and part of the skirts behind the tires. Maybe the bottom of the hood and fenders.

What did you have covered?
Eric, I am planning to do my car as well. Do you know who does it around OC? Thanks.

Their concern was if the paint was not done right it could pull the paint off during installation or later. Thats what I was told, clearly they would do it if you insisted but i would ask around alittle more.
Larry's concern is right & a good/honest installer should tell u the same thing & it's very understandable. if the paint is not cured it could pull the paint off... if not during install it will happen later when u pull it off.

we use the guy who does really good & clean job.
the re-paint is not a problem as long as which bodyshop did the work. in this case he trusts our bodyshop.

I went a little nuts:

Front bumper
18" of hood
behind front wheels
in front of rear wheels
behind rear wheels
door sills
bonnet pulls
mirrors
gas tank
head lights

BTW my front bumper was refinished and I had to have it recovered, the shop waited 30 days to cure before application.

Actually some gas nozzles rest right on the fender...so it works out pretty good. (I know I'm ****)
