Opinions needed on pricing - will be selling mine: 2002 996 C2

I am considering selling my 2002 996 C2. I purchased this from a fellow rennlister and 6speed member about 4-5 months ago. I have only put about 1K miles since I bought it from him. I think for my needs, a Porsche Cayenne S would be better suited since I need a tow vehicle. I am seeking opinions since I want to be fair and not try and gouge people.

So, I'm trying to get a feeling if it is realistic to sell it for what I paid. I am located in Northern VA -- so, I am also factoring in that the market is a bit better than where I purchased it from. I'm not looking to make money from it; but, just break even. I have the title in hand. I bought it for $47,500.00.

The wheels are ForgeLine VR3P. It has a brand new X74 suspension, GT3 bars with adj. links, adj. rear control links, evo v-flow, sport cats, short shifter (schnell -- not installed), and MKII aero kit. All of the mods have probably less than 2K miles on them. The car is also porsche-certified until May 2008 if I remember correctly. The car currently has 33.5K miles (give or take a few hundred miles).

Alan bought the car from a porsche dealership and hurt his back. The ride was too stiff when he added the suspension, etc. So, he decided to sell it when he heard that I was looking for one and lived right near him. I bought it because I sold my 99 C2 MKI to a friend (still miss that car since it had LSD). I then moved back to the mid-atlantic region -- and, have decided to continue racing in BMWCCA (was going to give it up). So, I need to get a tow vehicle. There are no stories with the car.

It has a lot of options including xenons, 6 disc changer, bose stereo, extended leather, rear windshield wiper, MKII aero kit etc. The seats are not heated. Plus, with it being CPO'd, low mileage, and aero kit, might make it appealing. I believe Alan said that the wheels alone (without tires) cost him almost $5K. There are no dents/dings/scratches. No curb rash on wheels since they are brand new.

I also have a lot of spare parts that I would be willing to convey with the car for $1.5K more -- 3 sets of stock wheels (all turbo twists I believe). 1 has complete set of tires and another has set of rcompounds. One set has no tires. All are in excellent condition. I was thinking of offering everything for $49,999 on autotrader. I did not receive the extra parts from Alan so I am not trying to make money from what he gave me. I had the extra parts already.

Porsches in this region (VA) tend not to have the MKII aero kit and have higher mileage. The tires are virtually brand new. I also will convey the stock rear decklid, fabspeed bypass pipes, and other misc. items (OEM GT3 car cover, etc). The car is black on black.

Thanks for your opinion.

Regards,

James

I think it is realistic to expect mid 40's. Selling to a fellow member is your best bet. Any dealer will tell you mods are worth little to nothing in terms of resale. If you go the dealer route, you might as well part it out first.

Car looks sick, btw.

You should have no problem getting what you paid for it with all the mods some lucky 6Speeder will be happy to pick that up!

You might also want to post on bimmerforums and e46fanatics. I would definitely choose that car over some of the equally priced m3's they have available.

Beautiful car. I think $50,000 might be a little high, but I hope you get it. Good luck with the sell and let us know what it goes for.
