996 C4S build dates?
actually i was just at the Evo Motorsports website and saw that they had a s/c for the C4S.
i'm hoping to get a P-car for my next ride. i know the pricing on the C2's b/c i have been researching them. But i recently got interested in the C4S. i know they're heavier and thus a bit slower than the C2 (at least in a straight line), but i figure with a s/c the 200lb difference won't matter. i'm having trouble pricing the C4S (partially b/c autotrader's search engine sucks @ss). but i'm not even sure if that's the best place to start looking. any suggestions?

i suppose i'd be looking for an 02 C4S with no more than 30k miles on it, 6-speed. about how much would have to spend to acquire something like this? Edmunds and KBB put it around $65k, but i know that sometimes those numbers don't mean a thing...

yeah i know...30k miles is alot of mile to put on a car in 1.5-2 years, especially a Porsche. But the price of a 20k mile 02 C4S is about $10,000 more than one w/ 30k miles.
oh well...i've just been eager to get some numbers since it drew my interest. but since those numbers aren't quite in my range right now, i'm thinking more along the lines of a 99-01 C2. i was under the impression that a previously owned (i don't like the word "used"
) C4S would only be $5k-10k more. but that was only until i was just informed by msindi that the oldest 996 C4S available would be an 02. and most 02's will have lower miles than a 99 or 00. right then i knew that a newer car + less miles = much more expensive...though i looked up the C4S numers for the fun of it anyway
. although i could be stretched a little, i really don't want to spend over $45k. and i've seen on autotrader some beautiful 99 C2's for as low as $38k, and some 01 C2's just pushing $50k, all of which have less than 30k miles on them. granted, they don't have the turbo head lamps that i love, but they're still gorgeous.
thanks for the suggestions though. i'm going to have a look around some of those other sites and see what's for sale.
