So..would the OPPOSITE be true to this?

My car is a 2001...no warranty left...and ZERO signs of RMS no leaks whatsoever. I am not 100% sure if it was fixed before (I can confirm and ask my pal that I bought the car from). But I am creeping on 25K and am planning on doing my 30K service pretty soon. I am also planning on picking up an EVO Stage 2 clutch with the lt wt flywheel and having it done at the same time. Sooo...if I am going to have the clutch installed, should I have them change out my RMS while they are in there?

Do it! Their work will be warranted for 12 month, so if it leaks again, you'll be covered

I'm on my third ( forth if you count the original one) and this one has survived 2 intense track days @ Sebring.
I believe they finally have the seal 'perfected'.

 

Actually the work is NOT warranted past the original. According to the dealer anything fixed under warranty is only covered to the terms of the original warranty. They do guarantee any non-covered work, in case I get the clutch done at the same time.

 

That hasn't been my knowledge. I think all work that dealers do is warranted throught them for some given period on time.

 

I asked them specifically and his response was: "if we replace the alternator one day before the warranty ends then you have a one day guarantee on the alternator"

 

Well, that isn't very accomodating for them. I think it might be a state law, but I think in TX, all dealers offer some kind of warranty on their repairs.

 

They do. Coming from a dealer aspect, when replacing a part under warranty, the part is good for the remainder for the warranty. If a part was replaced under warranty, it will be guranteed for the remaining life of the warranty; regardless of how many miles or months/years/or days, as long as the vehicle is under the factory warranty, so will the part that was replaced.. Pretty much the same at all dealerships/dealers. A part purchased AFTER warranty, typically has a warranty of 12 months or 12,000 (unlimited miles where I am at).

although parts warranty is 2 years, unlimited mileage

Over at MB we are only 12 months/unlimited miles - parts/labor warranty Nationwide.

 

thats just another reason why to buy a Porsche

Sometimes you can't see the leak until you open her up. Mine wasn't showing any signs but when she was opened up you could see there was some "very small" signs.....

You'll have to make the call at that point, I chose to fix it....
