Q. for cab owners

i have weird squeak when driving with top down. sounds like metal rubbing on metal and it seems to be coming from the contact of the driver door to the door latch area.

anybody had anything similar in the past? would make it easier for dealer to fix the problem.

the squeak is so bad, its almost not fun to drive the car with top down

it's squeaks only w top down? that's weird. usually noises are w the top up.

dealer can definitely fix it if they can reproduce it. it helps if you can isolate the noise (where the noise is coming from). i've had good luck w carlsen porsche.

Yeah my car makes more noise with the top up. I do get a squeek around my passenger door...with the top down..but it hasnt bugged me that much. I have the radio on or my exhaust notes to keep my ears happy.

with my hardtop on my car squeeks and creeks like crazy around turns and over bumps.. but it is drowned out with the exhaust and stereo! the squeeking and creeking come mostly from the mounting points of the hardtop... havent noticed much noise when the soft top is up or down.

rodney, you may need to adjust your hardtop. Are the mounting points properly tightened?

i may be exaggerating a bit... the dealer did resync the latch and catch point last december.. i'll have to check it again... it only happens during hard turns and jaw breaking bumps or dips.. but I did get used to it

It's a very common problem with 996 cabs. You need to have your door latch adjusted. I had my old 996 cab in twice for the same thing.
