Do you ever stop to think that your posts arent going to change anything???? By the time I get in my car and on the highway I wont remember this dialogue.

I see maxima's, minivans, pickup trucks, even the UPS guys doing 90+ on a daily basis. As a matter of fact I see more sports cars going slower than the flow of traffic than anyone else. Nothing worse than buying a sports car and not sporting it. I do not advocate street racing at all but highway nannies are annoying.

Your right, but for you to set your own speed limit (i.e. 10+ miles over is too much but anything less is ok is hypocritical) I'm not a street racer, but I dont counsel those that do because I may do some side by side spirited driving myself, same rule applies here.

BTW I have a turbo that may not be so easy to pass in the corners.

I just used 10 because police will leave you alone at that speed. I'm certainly no angel, but it truly sucks having to go through the hassle of fighting at ticket, hiring a lawyer, going to court. You may be a great driver, but that minivan with 5 kids isn't expecting a 100mph fly-by. Not saying you do that, just that I've seen it.

No I dont go that fast unless it's clear skies ahead. I have two very fast cars and it's really hard not to floor it sometimes, I am far from reckless though. I understand your point, though, the more you really drive the car like it should be (i.e track) the less you will feel urged to make the highways your race track, point taken.

Exactly. That's all I was saying, no preaching intended. It truly changes your outlook on safety.

Thanks...

Not all drivers are created equal....

Although I've broken possible every traffic violation on the face of this earth doesn't stop me from driving the way I do.... Point and case: I've had over 35 tickets to boot in my driving time... Yes I pay the fines, cost, lawyer fees etc. etc. but that's the price I O.K. with.... Now you can save your car for those few times on the track but lets face it, someone like me doesn't have all the time in the world to make it there nor do I want to hold back until then.

My daily driver is a Hemi.... FastForward is not just a name, it's a statement. Never had an "at-fault accident" in my life... That should tell you something..... I'll keep an eye out for your mini van..

I'm with you, bro! I'm sending mine right off too. You never know, there could be something else horrific buried in that bill, such as a front plate law. Could you imagine?

This is ridiculous. Seriously. I dont own a radar detector to brake the law. It just gives me a little bit of an advantage when the cops are trying to meet their monthly ticket requirements. For gods sake I drive a Cayenne S. My driving is less than agressive for the most part. And more often than not, cops are just sitting in the weirdest of places hiding behind telephone poles (like if their guts dont show from the sides of the pole), waiting for the distracted driver to fall into their trap...

Well, make sure you FL guys get to writing. I've already sent mine off. This whole thing has nothing to do with highway safety. It's all about jacking our wallets. I don't think a life has ever been saved by writing someone a ticket for going 75 in 65 on a 4 lane empty highway yet they continue to write tickets like that all the time. I think the govt is starting to freak out now that there is a move to drop property taxes on primary homes in FL.

The problem here on I-95 in central Florida is that the soccer moms in the minivans are the ones doing 100 mph. We have way too many marginal-handling vehicles speeding, getting into trouble, and then crossing over the median into oncoming traffic. Maybe if they drove something that handled better it wouldn't be so bad, but then they couldn't pack all those kids in there. Basically I feel better about someone driving a car fast that can handle the speed than someone driving a car that doesn't handle well at that same speed.

I've just seen the damage from low speed crashes at the track, I just can't imagine a high speed one.

Just be safe out there, people.

What are you so frightened of? Do you really think it's that dangerous to zoom along on an uncluttered highway?

It's not a matter of being frightened, I just don't ever want to be the cause of an accident, period. You have a lot more control of your car at 65-75 than you do at 90, 100, etc. on the road. Track driving is completely different. You are expected to go 140+.

The state cop from the radar article said it best "If the road was that empty, I wouldn't be patrolling it".
