Sways Q

Which sway gives you more adjustment? I've heard factory GT3 sways are the best for street/track. Can they be fit on C4S? Beside GT3 and H&R, who else makes sway bar for P-car or 4S?

eibach, techart, JIC, and i think cargraphic might have a new one. i just installed my GT3R sways 2 days ago and it has 4 levels of adjustment (from limp to hard on). from all the research i did asking, Lucent, Speed Gallery & By Design, everyone recommended the GT3R. i guess it doesn't really matter since there really isn't a whole lot of complicated technology in thicker bigger swaybars. it comes down to less mods needed to install and the least amount of noise the swaybar makes (like squeaking). i will be testing it out this saturday in the malibu canyons. i will let you know what i think.

SWAY BAR ISSUES TO LOOK AT

I just did the research and the following is the facts

I have an H&R Coilover on my 03 Carrera

I wound up doing the H&R sway bars this morning at Champion, due to the fact that in using the GT3 bars you need to change all the droplinks to the sway bars, this was confirmed by both Champion and Gert in Europe, this is a very expensive endevour to do and the sway bar job would be almost $2000 parts and labor as the drop links are over $1000 for all 4. You need to use one of the other brands like Techart, JIC or other. If you do this without changing the drop links your car is set up all wrong and whoever did this has no clue of what they are doing.

I choose the H&R due to the fact that in diameter the thcikness of them is equal to the GT3 bars , however the H&R bar is only adj in the rear not the front.

I am a very happy camper good luck and enjoy the curves!

marc996miami,

wow, $1000 for all 4 drop links. Champion sure knows how to put a good margin on goods that the cost at a normal shop would be $400.00. you must have a C2, but i believe HKE has a c4s. and that would be correct in your case. but a c4cab, turbo, c4s wouldn't be true. but i could be wrong considering i had to bend my sway bars in a pretzel shape to make them fit, but who cares they bolted down and it only took me 45 minutes. i guess if you don't work on your own car you would believe what people tell you. hope you like your dope H&R set up. remember it's not always how you have the car set up, but how well you drive it.

HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT

Eric

I apprecaite all your smart answers however that has nothing to do with markup those are the cost of the drop links and as far as markup Gert has them for the same price , as well he did several of the GT3 sway conversions on C2's and he ran into the trouble I mentioned. As well what would be the point in taking a car such as a Porsche and doing a rig job on it such as not having it set up properly there is only one way to do a job and that is the right way or no way! IMHO !!

mark,

i was kidding. i agree, do it right or don't do it at all. With the correct bushings, they fit perfect. no extra drop links or unaligned bolting. ask Dan from Speed Gallery, they fit perfect and he does cars with the same setup all the time. anyhow swaybars are sway bars regardless to what the label says. i've driven p-cars with h&r, jic what ever and truely couldn't say one was better than the other. the fact is you would just need to get use to the way the car drives or drifts with stiff suspension set up on AWD. for something like sway bars it's better to pay less than more as long as the fit correct and don't make noise. In my humble opion.
