Just curious. I am in lust with a Chicago area 996 (Club411). The car is obviously well groomed but underbody rust and aluminum part damage worries me. A friend had problems last year with his RS6 Audi that had come from CHI to TX, and I saw this with me own eyes! ARrrrrrghhhh matey!

Sorry, espresso is kicking in, do you guys have cosmo-coated 996 underbodies ?

Would Porsche NA have info on this or should I call a knowledgeable salesperson at the delaership nearby?

 

i may be 100% wrong, but i thought ALL porsche factory installed engines had cosmo on them. But if you had the engine replaced they were not coated?!?

 

cosmo here. had it pointed out to me by my mechanic just this week. he says they all have it.

I hate it. It's ugly. Props to those of you who have scrubbed it off. Can you guys please post those pics again and perhaps motivate some of us?? The clean and detailed underside of a 996 is a work of art.
