Wheel Balance and alignment question ASAP
Wheel Balance and alignment question ASAP
The local dealer is offering a special $399 for wheel balance and alignment and I guess he called it speed balancing. How does it sound? Is it a good deal? My car is a little uneasy when I hit 100 I am not sure if its the wheels or... that whu I wanted the wheels tested to make sure there is no bents. It doesn't pull so I am not sure if the alignment is necessery. Can some one help ASAP my appointment is monday so I want to know if the wheel balancing is enough for $199 or should I do the $399. Thanks
the car can be out of alignment even if it's not pulling. At 100mph and above all issues will be magnified. Speed balanced usually means the tires are balanced based on spining the tires at a faster rate. You should also have the wheels checked to make sure they are not bent or out of round.
$199 for the alignment sounds right. $199 for the wheel balance seems a bit high. Frankly, if you are going to frequently driving over 100mph I recommend you do both.
What do you mean by "uneasy"? do you have vibrations? or is the car just a bit of a handfull at speed. I would suggest doing the aligment first.
I see you are in Menlo Park, were are you taking the car? You don't need to have a dealer do this work. You might get a better price at an independent shop. Custom alignment in Mt. View maybe?
