My right muffler is rattling bad. Does anyone have a right muffler laying around? Its for a 2000 porsche 911 carerra 4

 

Are you sure the rattling is coming from the muffler? I thought mine was, and it turned out to be coming from the cat.

That issue, which could have been resolved by simply replacing a cat, led me down the deep, dark path of exhaust modifications.

"Why not replace the stock 200 cell ceramic cats (which possibly could have, you know, at some future point in time, started rattling again) with some 100 cell metallic substrate sport cats?"

"Oh, and while I'm under the car, why don't I get some mufflers so I can actually hear the exhaust?"

"And why not put on some headers while I'm at it?"

"Might as well change out the O2 sensors while I'm at it because I don't know how old they are, and I don't want to take a chance on a CEL."

Ehhh, never mind. It's too late for me now.


But you can still be saved. Try using a rubber mallet to smack around on your exhaust system to pinpoint the rattle. That will at least help you narrow down the cause of the noise. Then you can figure out where YOU want to go from there.

 

same thing happend to me a while ago, and it was my right muffler. like Beachside996, this gave me a chance do headers and aftermarket mufflers. I don't think you can just fix the problem.
