The 997TT will never have the glory that it's predecessor did.

The new top dog, 505 horsepower (377 kW) in a 3,132-pound (1,421 kg) package - a combination that delivers 0-60 performance of 3.7 seconds in first gear, quarter-mile times of 11.7 seconds at 125 mph and a top speed of 198 mph (as recorded on Germany's Autobahn). It also provides maximum lateral acceleration of 1.04 g and 60-0 braking in 111.3 feet; it also circuited Germany's famed Nuerburgring in a time of 7:43.

btw I love Porsche, but you gota bow down when your beat.
I had a chance to follow one on an on-ramp. We both took off and he was just not walking away from me he was leaving me like 5 car lengths every sec.

The fact is the new C6 (beit a regular C6 or C6Z) rides as good if not better than my 996tt before and after coilovers. I owned an '05 C6 and have driven an '06 C6Z.
They are not for everybody but I sure as hell wouldn't mind one sitting in my garage.
Ha!

. Stranger things have happened, thought years ago when I took my Chevelle 396 SS up against another car which was supposed to be an easy kill, but after blowing out the tranny in second gear coasted to a stop in front of a McDonalds and thought " I'm hungry".

[quote=ag-Z06]A lot of people hate this kind of thread - I love it!
I had an '04 Z06 with the 'low' 405hp that I used to track for about a year and a half. Here's my .02 on the comparison:
On the track: The car was a match for the 996 GT3, so a 'regular' 996 wasn't much competition - if you assume equal drivers, both on R-compound tires, otherwise stock. My Z06 needed an external radiator and oil cooler in order to run for 30 minute sessions full-out. I also kept a good supply of brake rotors on hand, as I'd go through fronts in a weekend and rears every 3-4 weekends when running full race pads (Wilwood 'H'). All in all, the C5 Z06 is probably the best performance for the $$ out there. The C6 Z06, which I was able to drive on track for just a few laps (with a GM Engineer in the pass. seat) and only at 7/10ths on the runflat OEM tires, was REALLY impressive. It made my C5 Z06 seem slow.
Needless to say, I sold the Z06 because as good as it was for pure track driving, the street ride was rough, the cabin a little cramped, and the general quality of the car not up to $50k+ car standards. Interior was no better than a Cavalier. I couldn't get my wife to ride along in it - she really didn't like it at all.
Pretty good summation !!!
Both my 01 & 04 Z06's were...
NOISY... MEAN... & NASTY !!!
Great track cars that also worked as daily drivers.
My 07 Z06 is night & day better... no comparison between the two models.
Much better fit & finish... provides:
more power (A LOT MORE POWER)
better handling ( ~3 seconds/lap faster @ Road Atlanta)
better ride (much better suspension)
nicer interior ( fit & finish )
and VERY FAST @ the track.
Parts are more expensive, with limited availability, on the new Z06 (nowhere near Porsche prices though)... you can't get replacement rotors for ~ $28.00 @ your local Napa dealer.
Oh... did I mention... the 07 Z06 is MUCH QUICKER than earlier models !!!
You don't believe me... Come on out & play !!!
