Great post. Thanks. Do you happen to have any pics? There are a couple steps here that I just can't quite picture, but I think I have the general idea.

What do you do about making the aftermarket **** fit, or is this just for using a factory 2 piece shifter? I'm still not clear on how to make a shift **** with a round hole in the bottom fit on our shifter linkage.

I do have the B&M short shift kit. I wonder if I can just replace the shifter arm with a threaded one and then use whatever I want...

I have the B&M shifter (square peg) and a Momo shift **** (round hole). I didn't do the install but I believe you have to grind down the B&M shaft then fabricate "shims" for each side to make it work.

Any information on how to change the shifter with cage for a 996tt to a 997 style, i have a lot of free-play in my shifter ( 20 % reduction )

etwd, your shifter is OEM? mine's OEM and it's got the applied porsche crest on it in the original gold color.

that shifter looks like it belongs on a golf gti dude - blech
