help with mech shop please

ok...finally took my 01 996 in for a really leaky rms and figured I would have the clutch done at the same time....got about 80 on the clock, so its probably about time. anyway, the shop called me today and want me to come take a look at the clutch AND FLYWHEEL and see if they need replacing. he said the flywheel looked burnt??? I have no idea what a bad vs good part looks like, lol... any thoughts on what I should look for??? also, they quoted me $950 for a new flywheel. for that price I should be able to get a decent lightweight one aftermarket....right??? would you guys suggest going this route? if so what brands do I look into and who sells the stuff???thanks in advance!
