Newport-
The rims I'm looking at are 19x11 in the rear and have 315/25/19 tires. I can have the 295/30/19's put on as an option, but the place is telling me that it will be better with the 315's and that the 295 will affect accelleration slightly due to larger OD. Speedo off by +1 is a given.
What do you think- will the 315's ride hard?

I personally think 315/25 is gonna be too harsh.....I cannot imagine you will feel the difference in acceleration between 295/30 and 315/25.

yeah I was thinking same- just popping in for a sanity check... they told me that the 315 width would help compensate for the lower sidewall. but I take that as "that's what they have in stock and ready to roll".
i'll probably go with the 295's.

so i'm thinking of going with 19" in one of these wheels just to update the look and get the slight benefit of the larger wheel. I have to buy tires anyway so "since i'm there and while i'm at it"...

The 10-spoke are 19x8.5 F and 19x11.5 R. The 5-spoke are 19x8 F and 19x11 R.

Which one?

I have 19's and was told anything over 275 would rub? I thought you could only go 295-315's on a Turbo or C4S widebody? If you go 295-315 I cant wait to see it because I would love to run at least a 295. Keep us posted.

The OEM-installed 18" Pirelli's on my car - 285/30/18 R and 225/40/18 F.

I believe 295 will rub if put them on my current wheels with their offsets.
My current wheels are Carrera lightweight 5-spokes / 18x10 R and 18x8 F.
The 997 rims I'm looking at are either 11" or 11.5" wide and should accomodate the wider 295 without rubbing or dropping to a 25 profile.

There are several members here with 997 wheels on their 996, maybe they can chime in on tire width.

Your offsets are wrong....if your offsets are correct you can run 315's on a narrow body car. Alot of aftermarket wheels have incorrect offsets...they make them more generic so a wider variety of Porsches can run them...so they are not an EXACT fit for any...they sit a little too far inside on some and a little too far outside on others...The way to make them work is vary the tire sizes...275 is actually too narrow a tire for a 10.5 or larger wheel. If you look at your rear wheel the rim is probably actually wider than the tire. if you put a 295 on YOUR wheel it would probably rub. I have 295's and I have LOTS of spare room....

You cant run 11.5" rears....I dont think the first ones will fit a 996...11" on a narrow body is pretty much the widest you can go.
