about to buy a 996 and have a ?

hello,

i am about to buy a 2001 c2 from a dealer friend who has been searching for a 911 for me. he has found one but there seems to be one small problem. first off the car is 2001 with 26k miles and is silver on black. i havent seen pictures yet but my friend says the car is perfect, no scratches or rock chips or anything and the interior is perfect as well. he took the car in to his dealership in florida to have the engine and mechanics looked at and upon inspection everything was fine except that the car was on its second clutch and they were going to have to replace the flywheel. he told me that although i was getting a new flywheel and the current clutch was fine, there could be tranny problems in the future if the car was ragged out. i was definitely going to get an extended warranty anyway so should i let this sway me at all? he is giving me a sick deal (at least my research leads me to believe anyway) at $45,000. what would you do?

Well what options are on the car and an extended warranty will not cover the clutch or flywheel just the transmission. Sounds a little suspect that the car is on its second clutch with so little miles either the person who owned the car didn't know how to drive a stick or they ragged it out? But it sounds like a good deal.

sounds like a good deal. i would look for an '02. i have a friend who bought a '02 c2 cab with 3k miles on it for $65k.
if i didn't want to spend the extra cash i would get it.

The price seems right, but i agree with Eric k., the 02 model
has many improvements. if you can reach it , go for an 02.

Good luck, Roy

The price is great, but the clutch thing is a little dubious. How in the world do you ruin in a clutch in 21k?? There's got to be more to the story.
