Unhappy Am I in trouble?

Did I damage my transmission? I have a 2003 C4S with about 3K miles on it. Driving down the road yesterday, I accidentally shifted from 2nd to 3rd without the clutch engaged and it made one hell of a noise. I have owned 4 manual transmission cars and never did this before. I feel pretty stupid but my main concern is that I did some damage. The car seems to run fine. Am I in trouble?

How did you catch the gear w/o the clutch, you sure it wasnt just a really bad gear grind?

How bad of a sound did it make? Back in my dumber younger days, I heard that the big rigs shifted this way by matching revs and did this alot for the hell of it on my Nissan pickup. Anyways, the truck lasted me quite a while so I wouldn't think it would have hurt your car doing it once. I'd also keep an eye on it and see if acts up though. Hope that helps...

Cool

Andy,
With a little practice, it won't make any noise!
Doesn't sound like you hurt anything.
Put more miles on that car!
Ciao

Sounds like you need to work on your speed shifting. My dad used to shift without the clutch by matching RPMs... it's and old trick that if you can do it well is slick. I wouldnt worry about it but if it starts freaking out... check it out.

I'm sure the car/transmission is fine.
