996 Power Intake Plenum
Dride007, without any wisecracking commentary or personal attack, it seems you would have to conceed two points. 1. You would have to admit that the hardened clay you fabricated would not be made with the same precision as the machined unit. 2. The clay will probably become brittle and if a piece breaks & does get through the throttlebody, could be sucked into the motor & possibly score a piston or cylinder wall. Are you suggesting that this scenario couldnt happen? Or that if it gets past the throttlebody it would simply rattle around on an intake valve? If so & the piece is as hard as you suggest, what about damage to the valve? I have not been convinced & dont believe you have explained away these issues.
At this time I don't see a point really in typing anything more on the matter. I made something better in my opinion than the RSS, I'm not going to replicate it to others since it has a patent - I'm not a patent attorney, my friend is who I will ask later, but even showing pictures of what I did might be patent infringement. I doubt it since I am not going to start making these for distribution and the design is similar but not the same. I'm not trying to sound like an ***, but read up on venturi nozzles/tubes and the venturi effect in the topic of fluid dynamics which also incorporates gases for anyone who thinks it is just liquids. Also the aerodynamic effect of gas around an object, a ball for instance. I let one of my friends who is an engineer for a NASCAR team which for his protection I won't disclose, and he read what I typed and the responses I got - and we're both in agreement what I did is kosher with the medium I used and what I used to reinforce it to stay right where it is. Two grads from an Ivy League college with engineering degrees who work on race cars are being questioned by whomever. Like I said, I don't care what others think. I think this site is cool, there are some good posts. I want to contribute, but if I am going to get backfires instead of intelligent questions - peace.
Is your personal attack on me your idea of contribution? I'm not sure what my wife's chart, my jeep, or the Cayenne has to do with the topic at hand. Well, maybe the chart, but that was only way to quantify the dyno readings since I could not scan the sheet itself.
You've made some pretty bold statements in this thread. You've referenced race teams, Nascar engineers with Ivy league educations, and fluid dynamics. However, you won't name anyone or show pics of anything. Patent infringement is a non issue here. You're not trying to sell it. If I'm understanding you correctly, you're just a guy who likes to tinker with his car.
Why don't you try and get some credibility here since no one knows who you are. Are we to just believe everything you're saying without knowing who you are. Pics of your car and your mods would be a nice start. Naming who is supporting all your finds would be a nice follow up. Why would anyone care if they're named?
If you want "intelligent questions" and to be seen as some sort of expert here, you may want to establish yourself first.
wow..MORE ego inlfation from claymation man!! nascar, engineer's..patent lawyers...
still looking for personal affirmation huh!!
well, i can start to list who i have worked for and with, and which major automotive companies.... but i wont. mainly because nobody here would give a sh*t, nor do i feel the need to do so as this guy does.
and BTW mr smartypants... patent infringement would only be applicable IF your idea was the same/similar in ever aspect, not just some.
so, i recommend to you, stop blowing hot air and trying to inflate your credibility on who you know!! how about on what YOU KNOW...

From what I was told ALL 1999 C2 996 Coupes were non-egas and with the 2000+ models and ALL C4 996 models getting e-gas. The other real simple method is to look at the throttle body and see if there is a cable attached!

wow--- i can't decide between the plenum or PSS9 setup...
hmm... looks or hp?
so, how easy of an install is this plenum...
are we talking half an hour by a guy who has worked only on old american cars?
oh... i think some of you guys could use one of these suits!
seriously, relax- we are all car guys!

PSS9 is more than looks...its handling too.... in my opinion do all the handling stuff (suspension including sway bars) first... this will make way more of a difference in your daily driving than any little increase in HP
