About to buy a 2003 C2 Tip

Hi Guys

I have not been on this site for a long time after I sold my 99 C2

Anyways I am looking at a 2003 C2 Tip, anything I should look for when I inspect the car.

Is the 2003 C2 Tip fast?

I know the older 996 have a seatbelt light problem and possiable leaky rear main seal

Any advice will help me out a lot

Thank you everyone

Welcome back, dude! I have a 02 Cab with 50K+ no RMS. I did have seatbelt light problem but did erased by my local shop. You can have the buckles replace for about $300.

Tiptronic 996's are interesting beasts. I have a 99 which I like (daily commuter), but admittedly, a tip is not as much fun, and lessens somewhat the feeling of speed). Where the tip really shines is its ability to grab the lowest gear possible when you slam the gas pedal. Very fun to do at 75 mph and watch the tranny downshift to 3rd and rocket you forward. My dad had a 3.6 996 tip, which I thought was light years better than the 99 tip (some 200 or so additional shift maps will do that). My dad had the evo intake, fabspeed mufflers, giac flash, fabspeed headers, and the car was very quick.

I have an '02 tip and it is a lot of fun. Suits me fine considering it is a daily driver / traffic / etc.
As with any tip car there is some adjustment period getting used to how it reacts. I usually leave it in manual mode.

IMO, driving a Porsche with a tip is like having sex with a condom. It's great, but you know it could feel better

Good luck with your buy, looking forward to pics.

Thank you for all the imputs.

My 99 996 had a slight RMS leak that why I sold it.

Does anyone know if the 2003 build 996 had that problem fixed from the factory?

Thanks

Eddie
