Rustproofing P-car
Rustproofing P-car
As winter is creeping closer by, I'm considering rust proofing the Pcar as a preventative for the salt and sand used in many Canadian cities (at least in Toronto and the GTA region). I've been rust proofing my Beemer for almost 10 year and the result has been very positive.
I did as search on the forum and could not find any discussions on rust proofing. The rustproof solution I've been using is oil based and is sprayed throughout the vehicle … inside the door, under the door, rocker panel, inside the engine compartment, under the car, inside the wheel well, pretty much every nooks and cranny.
I'm wondering if the folks on the forum would recommend it. The real sore point I have with oil rustproof is the mess it leaves behind.... dirt clings to it and it rubs off onto your clothes etc ... you get the idea…

No need too. Materials used on today's car benefit very little from rust proofing being added. Lot's of salt here in Chicago and no problem. Body panels have a 10 year warranty as it is. I also have a 10 year old Bimmer that has as much rust as yours and I did not rust proof it.
