996tt/997tt transition year?

When was the model year 996tt to 997tt ? Several times I have seen a 997tt advertised for sale as a 2005 as well as a 996tt advertised as a 2005. Were both available as a 2005?

I don't think the 997 TT coupe was available in the US until the 2007 model year. The cabriolet launched as a 2008 model.

2005 was the transition year for some of the other 911 variants. Most of the 996 line was available as a 2005 model. The 2005 Turbo S was available as a 996. The C2 and C4 were available as a 997 also.

Own a 2004 996tt X50 cab...guess this is sort of a pre turbo S edition without the carbon brakes.

Porsche Type 997, or simply 997 is the project code name for the current version of the Porsche 911 built since 2004 and introduced as model year 2005. Production began in July 2004. Two variants, the Porsche Carrera and Carrera S coupés, were available immediately. The all-wheel drive Porsche Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S versions began shipping in November 2005, while the Turbo and GT3 derivatives went on sale in late 2006 and the 997 GT2 in 2007. The Porsche Targa top models are available in Targa 4 and Targa 4S forms.
