Can't Fill The Tank

I have been having trouble filling my gas tank all the way before the handle pops on the gas pump. It always ends up a few gallons short of a full tank and no matter how hard I try, I can't get it to take any more gas. I guess this is one way to cut down on how much I spend at the pump but I just end up going more often.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Solutions?

Thanks!

I experienced the same thing whenever I fill up my Turbo down in California. It's because of the back pressure created by the fume catcher. If you somehow hold that up or at least don't stick the nozzle all the way in, it should fill all the way up. I really hate those fume catchers.

I have the same problem with mine. When the light is on, I can only get about 12 gallons in it and have to top off the remaining 2-3 gallons. PITA considering the 12.5-13 mpg I am getting in town!

Same here . I hold the fume catcher back and fill off slowly

I do like the aftermarket Porsche Alloy look fuel cap.....

The one I have is actually a Porsche Tequipment gas cap. I got the rubber gas flap from Griot's to go along with it.

Carry a "non-flammable" certified two gallon gas can with you and fill it up subsequent to filling up your vehicle's tank; pour its contents into the fuel tank and the problem is resolved.

you are going to be puzzled by this response....but trust me it will work TURN THE NOZZLE UPSIDE DOWN before you put it in. I've ran into this problem with a few cars, and turning the nozzle upside down before putting it in the car works EVERY TIME

What I'll usually do is fill it up normal, then after it stops I'll top off the rest with the nozzle upside down.

I've had this problem on my cayenne. Usually I just pull out the nozzle a bit and u can fill it up more.

Atomic that rubber gas flap is a great idea. Don't need it on the cayenne, but hopfully later when I get a 997. :-)

Upside down? That's a new one..I'll have to try that.

Extreme. :D

this is a problem on the 996tt's too... in some cases, a sensor of some sort dies and the car will refuse all gas - don't ask me how i know...

I do this a lot, but I find just turning the nozzle/handle to the side works fine to get the last few gallons inside. Some pumps will allow a full fill. I guess it's down to the sensitivity of the sensor.

This used to happen to me the same month I picked the car up but no longer does it (thank God)
