traction control not turning off?
does the PSM realy turn off when you press it? i turned it off today and came out of a turn and floored it to get the car to loose traction and it still came on. i lost traction for a second then i felt a loss in power until the car got straight, then the boost came back again. I know that with BMW's the traction control stays on even after de-activating it, unless you press and hold the button for more than 5 seconds. is it the same with the porsche?

Not sure this answers your question. This is from the 997 Owner's manual - I'm sure there's something similar in the TT manual, I just don't have it handy. I don't think PSM is really ever "off" on the TT - but in reading about the GT2, I think you can turn everything off on that car.
jhb is right. On the 997TT, the PSM cannot be totally disabled. With the PSM switched off, the stabilizing adjustments are just made later during an unstable situation, and the parameters to define "instability" are more liberal.
The GT2, OTOH, can have the PSM totally disabled and it will not re-engage until the driver re-activates the PSM system intentionally.

Hope you understand what iīm trying to say, this info is from the 9977TT technical info and itīs written in german

I can assure that PSM off means off, i experienced this on a drift event and a lot of funny snow days.
mine doesn't drift at all, maybe because its a Tip.
I've put it in situations where the car should have gone sideways but it would barely skid then the PSM kicks in. maybe I'll have to wait for some rain to test this again

No, the problem is not tiptronic, the problem is maybe you

I have a tip and once it starts to drift itīs quite a *****. Donīt wanna be your grandpa but you should not try your first drifts on public roads
driftproovepicture, not a good shot but i think the driver is a nice guy

. i used to have a 400 hp RX7 and that thing would go sideways anytime you even think about turning lool . i had some scary moments with it.
i guess i'm not used to the traction of a 4WD car.
Itīs really not that hard to keep the car in a controlled drift, but the big difference compared to a RWD car is the fact, that you are getting faster and faster because of the extra grip from your front tires. With a RWD car, once you start your drift, you can keep it at the same speed, but with the 997TT you will raise your speed and need more space than you will probably have on a public road.
I donīt talk about a drift beginning quite after the apex or at the end of a curve, which is always doable for a braveheart, but rather from a drift starting at the beginning of a curve and i give you (and me
) 9 out 10 to end it in the field.
do you do it with PSM on or off? sprot mode ON or OFF
it seems little bit iterested. can't wait to try it tomorrow
.
