Never tried it as I always drive in sports mode.

I also leave it sport mode much of the time, unless rush hour, bumper to bumper. Then quite frankly, the car is more friendly in the Auto setting. (IMO, the 6 speed is a pain in 0-15 freeway stop and go)

But, per the manual, under the Manual section, it says "If the PSM is switched off and/or Sport mode is switched on, an automatic upshift does not occur when the engine speed limit is reached."

So, the opposite is true. Let's say you're in somewhat crowded traffic, PSM on, Sport off, both by default, Auto mode, and you want to accelerate to get around someone, or whatever, you can, for example, hit - on steering wheel to what ever gear you want, floor it, and forget it. It will shift at redline if you get there. Now, in traffic, I think that's pretty nice. It's in manual mode as soon as you hit the steering wheel botton, but will return to Auto in about 8 seconds unless you provide additional steering wheel button inputs.

That's pretty user friendly in traffic.

my Tip never hits the limiter, even when its in M mode . It would shift by it self. i think the only time it hit the limiter was during a wide turn at the race track and i forgot to shift it. but when i'm in a straight line, it shifts alone.

.

push the sport mode button on when you are at the track, much better for track performance anyway.

Then you will have to give it your undivided shifting attention, which is a good thing, or it will hit the rev limiter.

So, true! Had the chance of riding in a buddy's newly acquired Tip. 997TT w/ Fabspeed sport exhaust and another buddy's modded 930 during the same day. Really gave me an appreciation for how far the cars have come, at the same time I was in sheer amazement of the acceleration and how seamless the Tiptronic car was.

Saying that, I still am genuinely looking forward to when Porsche finally throws a Double-Clutch sequential into the Turbo.

TIP VS. 6-Speed

I have an 08' 997 TT CAB Tiptronic, I find myself thinking about the 6-speed a lot lately, coming from an 06' 997 C4S Cab 6-Speed that took effort for the smallest of rewards. This makes me wonder how much more I would like the 6-Speed in my new TT.

One reason why I went for the Tip, was cause the redline is only 6K, I prefer to have higher red lines like the GT3 at 8K+ when driving a 6-Speed. On a 6-Speed TT test drive a few months before I bought mine, I found myself reaching the Red-Line too quickly before I was ready to shift.

Guess I'm just confused not sure if I have buyers remorse. Maybe the DS3 is what I need? I miss having a clutch.

I've owned the car for 2 Months, not sure if I should trade it for a 6-Speed Turbo. Anyone else switch from Auto to 6-Speed?

Not if you have another fast car that is a 6 speed. I think I would totally agree with you if my only fun car was an Auto.
