The antenna for the GPS is in the center of the dash at the leading edge, inside the car.

I'm also about to get my windshield tinted but what about the rearview mirror? - I have auto dim so can they just take the mirror down, tint the windshield and then fit it back on?

Not on the 997.1tt. It is outside under the passenger side wiper cowl.

I am going w/ the new Llumar air blue 80% on my front windshield. It rejects 42% of heat.

I'd recommend "Top Of The Line" 727-418-4771, If you don't have a Window Tinter Yet. Has done great work at my house and cars. Also Very Good Pricing. He Comes to you.
