H&R Springs for 997TT
Also, just as an FYI .........
Top level spring manufactuers today make springs that do not settle.
This is nothing more than a myth that got started somewhere.
For example the springs Eibach makes for us are rated over @ 500,000 duty cycles.
Which means they must reach full coil bind 500k times before they start to loose their rate and can begin to change their height (this is what some call settling) This will never happen during the life of your car.
You wont have to worry about these spring settling.. This is part of the reason why we choose Eibach to work with on our suspension products.
Their quality is unsurpassed in spring manufacturing.
Hope that helps shed some light on the subject of "springs that settle"
ziggy
The differences are a few/
1. Eibach does not make a lowering spring for the 997TT which is part of their normal line of lowering springs.
2 Spring rate is specific to GMG
3. Spring design is specific to GMG
4; Lowering amount is "set to our standard"
5. We have an optional sway bar kit that is matched to the springs.
Bluebullet.
I agree that Coil Overs are a great way to go. However unlike the E36 that you had the PASM damper is completely different than a conventional damper and requires a lot more then just a conventional coil over kit.
Bilstien has the damptronic kit for the PASM equipped cars but some owners dont want to go through the expense of a complete coil over kit.
Our design is a reasonably priced upgrade for the 997TT owner who drives his car on the street and may occasionally take his car to a track day or autocross.
Otherwise we would all be riding around on Motons, JRZ's or Ohlins installed on our 997TT's.. And for those who want the Motons we can take care of that as well
Here is another 997TT we just did with the World Challenge package:

Thanks for all the info Fabryce.
I was just looking on the Eibach site... and it appears they do make a set for the 997TT.

Or is that something different?

Techart springs are great! and we had these rated as well. Yes they are made by Eibach under a private label just like our WC sport lowering springs.
However they have a softer spring rate than our WC spring set and due to TUV requirements and do not lower the car as much as our springs do.
And of course there is a cost difference.
Techart springs are overpriced like everything else they sell too. I was just suggesting those over the H&R springs because I know they're better.
Would you say that your springs are as compliant as say Turbos with the Damptronic coilovers installed? If you say that your springs are harder than both the Techart and H&R springs then it sounds like it might ride a bit too harsh but then again I have no basis as to what to compare those to.
The other big concern about lowering the car too much would cause the front end to scrape on every driveway especially those down in Southern California. You guys have STEEP driveways compared to us guys up here.

No problem, I appreciate the questions.
You have to understand Techarts position on manufacturing and development. Quality parts are by no means in expensive to make nor is the R&D involved in making these parts cheap either.
Yes you generally pay more for Techart products but you also get a product that fits correctly the first time.
The problem we have with performance products for Porsche cars is that there are ton of companies that are constantly making knock of parts and selling them for 1/2 the price of the originals.
There is an old saying which goes a little like this.
"The bitterness of poor quality lasts much longer than sweetness of good a good deal"
In terms of our WC lowering springs. They are a truly progressive rate design which have been matched to the damptronic PASM dampers.
Eibach dyno'd the dampers both in standard mode and sport mode and we designed the springs to work in both of those modes. This was a challenge to design a spring that would offer the comfort most drivers were looking for in non sport mode and the performance they needed in performance mode.
The ride quality is equally as good as a Bilstien damptronic kit. The car is at the shop for demo rides if anyone wants to come down experiance them for yourself.
We dont have any problems with driveways if you are careful. However a good number of guys whos cars arent lowered have scraped up front spoilers also.
If your in town please stop by and we can go for a ride in our WC -997TT.
Hope that helps.
Fabryce,
Thanks for taking the time to explain the steps involved. I'm also aware of the ever increasing costs also being influenced by the rising Euros. I know that you generally get what you pay for. As a consumer who demands quality, I'd be willing to pay extra to get something that is guaranteed to work to my utmost satisfaction.
It sounds like you guys have truly come out with a set of springs that could be seen as a serious alternative to a full on coilover system.
