Turbo Boost problem
hey guyz, ive got a stock 997TT, its been with me since about 8 months now, and it keeps going in and out of the service center every month for various problems (mainly suspension related).
suddenly i noticed a new problem arose... my boost would not go past 0.9 bar with or without overboost (even when the up button is showing it makes no diff.) and then drops down to like 0.8 .... i took it into the service center to get this checked out as its supposed to hit 1.2 with over boost and around 0.9-1.0 without ... 2 days later they tell me that they couldnt find out what the problem is and they would have to ask the regional porsche (in my case Porsche Middle East) if they have a clue on whats going on... its been 3 weeks since they said that and still no luck ... whats even worse is that the guy from the service center reprogrammed the whole thing thinking it may be an ECU error, and it seems to have made it worse .... now it wont even hit 0.9 it just goes from 0.7-0.8.

anyone had similar issues ? ... any advice ?

With nearly half my Boost lost it sure does feel slower .... specially that a friend of mine has a TT and it feels much faster, its so slow that an M5 with just an ECU flash and an exhuast system could keep up with me and beat the hell out of me after 260km/h
I thought air temp. was an issue during the summer period when temp. was around 31-35c outside, however when i took it in to get it repaired is just recently and the weather is around 15-20c which i think should acheive at least the desired boost when my friend's TT (stock as well) acheived it at much higher temps.

and i thought i was the only unlucky one .... have u had any luck in solving the problem ?

it stayed at the dealers for 2 days and they came back telling me that they didnt know what was causing this problem (this talk coming from a bunch of german techs working at an exclusive porsche dealership). so apparently they r waiting for a reply from the techs at the regional office about the issue.
The ECU will allow boost based upon the conditions prevalent - fuel grade, air intake temp, exhaust gas temp, etc. If there are are situations which could lead to engine harm, the ECU will back off the boost and timing for protection.
In your case, since temps are down, I would check your fuel grade - it is possible you have contaminated fuel or inadequate octane. Adding octane boost can help

$1.7 a gallon (and ppl still complain here)... apparently its gonna go up sometime this yr to about $2.4 ... weve got the cheaper fuel too (95 octane) but im not sure how much that sells for.
how can losing half your boost not be a problem ? ... well yeah the car moves but not like what its supposed to .... no power ... i mean its up to the individual person but to me every bit of power is of the essence
