New fun with the 997 Tip-really impressive!
I've had my 997 tip for about a month or so now.
Actually, I've posted here a time or two about how fast I think the Tip is, and I’ve been quite impressed in the early going.
<O
Well, now that I’ve tested it “properly”, I'm here to tell you, it is lightning fast!<O
You might ask? As compared to what?
<O
My highly modified 996TT, recently departed and replaced by the 997, was amazingly fast (running about 530 hp with all the mods), but there is no comparison to the 997 Tip out of the hole! The 996 would clearly kick it's *** in anything over about an eight mile run, but from stop light to stop light, man!, this is great fun!!!!!!
<O
I've had about every fast and/or modified street car there is, and, no bragging, just fact, the 997 Tip is just incredibly quick from 0 to about 35-40 mph.
<O
Colorado has had some tough weather conditions since I bought it near year end that wouldn't let me test it properly, but now I've had the chance.
WOW!!!! Brake it, and throttle it up to about 10-12 pounds of boost, and then, hang on!!!
<O
I have, or have had, maybe one or two other cars that would out run it to 60 mph, but none of them could possibly beat it to about 30-40 mph.
<O
I'm not really sure how incredible that is, or, perhaps how incredible that isn't, but buzzing around town, my “normal” type of driving, from stop light to stop light, this car is major fun!!!<O

In anything that looks or feels like rush hour, I leave it in auto, remembering you can instantly go to manual by any steering button input, and if no further button input, it goes back to auto in about 8 seconds.
But, since this car is not a daily driver, I find myself in manual mode much of the time.
But then, if you get a cell phone call or whatever, go to auto, just drive it like your Lexus.
They're nice cars! I'm having fun!
This reminds me of a time when I landed at the Santa Monica airport last year...I ended up with mustang Convertible as my rental (real beauty
), anyhow...I had a guy in a gallardo pull up next to me and he gunned the damn thing when the light turned green...his car takes off like a bat out of hell only to be stopped a few feet down the road by a red light...anyhow, so I pulled up next to him; light turns green and he guns it again only to be stopped again by the following red light...we did this dance for approximately 10 lights at which point I turned right...
