Turbo VS GT2

At the risk of sounding ignorant (be nice guys), why are the magazines saying that the new GT2 is performing as the same level as the Carrera GT. At 50 more HP and 200 less lbs and rear wheel drive, is it that big of a performance jump over the turbo? Certainly, you guys who mod them have well in the 500 HP range. Am I missing something, or is the jump in price from a turbo to a GT2 steep and a bit overrated.

Remember, be nice.

I believe the difference lies not just in stated hp and weight , but also the fact that:

1) The power of the GT2 could be understated to preserve the hierarchy of the models (has to be way lower than a CGT)

2) The lack of AWD will have less parasitic loss to the wheels and therefore the car is putting more power on the ground (percentage wise of it's stated crank hp) than an AWD turbo.

3) Its peak power and torque arrive earlier so its performance up to 100 or 120 will be on par or sometimes even better than the CGT.

4) Having launch control also helps in the 0 to 60 and 0 to 100 tests.

Just my opinion. What do you guys think?

It may seem overated in terms of 0-60 etc. but behind the wheel I think the extra money will soon proven worthwhile. The GT3, which I have driven, and the GT2, which I can only assume, offer a bit more driver involvement if you know what I mean vs. the turbo.

Im sure its easy to mod the TT to get on par with the GT2 accerlation wise but it would take a bit of suspension work to make it close on the track and steering feel etc.

Thanks for your insight. Makes sense. I was just tyring to make sense of the 70K increase over the turbo for what I had initially thought, modest performance gains. As well as how they could compare the gt2 to the gt.

The loss of weight even at 200lbs makes a huge difference in the way the car handles and performs. The suspension setup is also completely different. When you drive it, you will feel a completely different experience, much in the same way you would from driving a regular CarreraS to a GT3 to a GT3RS.
GT2 will be a much more rigid car as well, involving the driver much more.
